Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank is a local organization that has made it its mission to help families in the East Valley who are struggling with the overwhelming problem of hunger. Matthew’s Crossing with the support of volunteers and passionate team members feeds more than 7,000 people in need on a monthly basis. Aside from there food pantry, a recent program has been established to help provide meals to children who are in need at school, called Meals to Grow. They are able to combat hunger in school-aged children in two ways, by providing over 300 backpacks to local schools each week for children to take home over the weekend so they may have proper access to food along within Chandler, they have created a food closet in Hamilton High school so that when a child visits the counseling office and says they don’t have access to food at home the counselor can provide them with a nourishing meal.
