Protecting Our Arizonian Hearts

In 2017, the CDC reported that heart disease is the number one cause of death in the State of Arizona. That translates to 12,398 individual deaths that year due to this disease. In addition to that, there were also 2,681 deaths due to stroke, making that the sixth leading cause of death for Arizona in 2017. Together, heart disease and stroke accounted for about 26.1% of all deaths in our state.

These numbers are consistent with statistics that heart health issues are the leading cause of death in our country. In order to combat that, the American Heart Association was created by physicians and social workers with a passion to provide awareness, better care, prevention, and, eventually, a cure. More specifically, the American Heart Association of Arizona has made it their mission to spread these efforts right here in our local community! They are dedicated to ensuring that “everyone in Arizona has the opportunity to live a longer, healthier life.”
